Is PDF compression lossless?
Optimize mode keeps text and vectors intact and saves a modest amount; rasterize mode shrinks far more but turns pages into images.
How do I check that the text is still selectable?
Use optimize mode and open the result in your PDF reader — rasterized pages are images, so a text search will find nothing there.
Does my PDF get uploaded to a server?
No upload happens at all: PDF.js and pdf-lib run inside the page, so your contract or invoice is never sent off your device.
